Biography
I am an art specialist with over two decades of experience in contemporary art, antiques, and decorative arts. My career has been shaped by a deep understanding of historical expertise and the evolving art market, focusing on cataloging, research, and working closely with institutions, collectors, and cultural projects.
Since 1999, I have built my expertise in the evaluation and study of Portuguese, European, and Indo-Portuguese art, including decorative arts, furniture, sculpture, and contemporary works. For over two decades, I worked at Palácio do Correio Velho, where I served as Director of Contemporary Art and Head of the Cataloguing Department. In this role, I managed sales, oversaw major collections, and advised both private and institutional clients on acquisitions, valuations, and investments.
More recently, I embraced an exciting challenge at Hommi, where I was the Business Development Director and contributed to shaping the company’s vision within the contemporary design and collectible art market. This experience took me to trade fairs and expanded my engagement beyond traditional fine art, deepening my knowledge of editioned works and the intersection of art and design.
Beyond my professional roles, I have been actively involved in academic and educational initiatives. From 2016 to 2023, I was a guest lecturer in the Art Market and Collecting postgraduate program at FCSH, Nova University, Lisbon, and I have participated in public talks, conferences, and specialized courses on the art market like Academia Observador, collection management, and the role of art expertise in today’s evolving landscape.
I hold a degree in Interior Design and Art Expertise from Escola Superior de Artes Decorativas – Fundação Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva, Lisbon, and a postgraduate diploma in 17th and 18th-century Decorative Arts from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London.
At this stage, I am exploring new professional opportunities where I can apply my expertise and continue engaging with the art world. My passion lies in understanding art beyond its market value—exploring its provenance, cultural significance, and the narratives that connect objects to history.
